	During 2007, we asked ourselves how we might better focus our resources in response to key issues of concern for the community. It has been a process of planning, reflection and renewal and we have recommitted ourselves to the foundation's work and the founder's tradition of service. A healthy and educated community is the foundation's current priority and strategic commitment. In addition to grant making, we continue to encourage a sustainable system of funding for these critical needs. Our strategy is also to seek partners both public and private who share common interests for collaborations and positive change. Primary Focus Area: Education - Preparing children for success in school; supporting school readiness, quality early childhood development and early intervention. Working with families and youth service organizations to insure academic success and prevent school dropout. Community Health and Services - Promoting healthy behavior, wellness, and prevention. Improving access to health care for vulnerable populations. Providing opportunities for families that encourage healthy lifestyles and improved mental and physical health. Secondary Focus Areas: Basic services for at risk families and children Family literacy and adult education Community Improvement and Nonprofit Capacity Building Culture and increasing accessibility to the arts Philanthropy and Volunteerism
